Relaxation in Motion (RIM) is a method of calming the mind and body to create more awareness of one’s internal and external environments. Through guided movement patterns, breathing and body posture one can have more focused intention and release stress.
Relaxation is often associated with stillness or lack of motion, reading a book, meditating or watching TV. Movement can also be a path to relaxation. There are many forms of movement that can lead to relaxation. Yoga, Qigong, Tai Chi and even dance can provide a foundation to ease tension and create mind-body balance.
Motion and focus together can help clear pathways for greater energy flow. By increasing one's intention, the flow of healthy energy can offer more mental and emotional clarity. This can harmonize and strengthen the whole body system. The RIM method asks the mover to focus inward with slow sustained movements and can be mastered by the beginner as well as athletes.
RIM is a low impact method of exercises that can be easily accomplished standing, sitting and even laying down. This safe and healthy way of moving makes the experience of releasing tension more enjoyable and rewarding.
